Welcome

This site is a conglomeration of various articles that are primarily focussed on science issues affecting Deep Creek Lake, McHenry MD. This reflects work I’ve done since the year 2000 when I moved permanently to Deep Creek Lake. I had retired from my regular work, and I became interested in what it would take to keep the lake a safe and functioning waterbody, for residents and visitors alike to enjoy, including myself.

Over the years I’ve put my analyses efforts across various websites deepcreekanswers.com, deepcreekscience.com, senstech.com, and deepcreekwatershed.org, and the current one deepcreekwater.com. This website aims to bring all together and only use one wesite and then close all the others. I will probably keep everyting under a new name, but that is still up for debate.

For now I will be merging all of the still relevant information from the other websites to the deepcreekwater.com website. The current version was published on February 19, 2022.

The site was created with “Hugo, a static website generator. The layout of this site is still experimental, but mostly theway I want it. I have tried various ways to document my work in a consistent and pleasing manner and share it with anyone who’s interested in it. I hope that this is my last format that I will make small tweaks as time passes, in addition to correcting mistakes and adding missing material, and updating as deemed necessary.

The theme used is called Mainroad. I like it because of its simple layout. There are things I would like to change in this theme, and I’ll be working on that as time goes on. I’m still in a learning mode.

The theme and website are workable. Click on the “Home” menu item to take you to the beginning.

This page lists all of the categories under which the posts have been filed. When you click on the “category” name below one gets a list of all of the posts of that category.

When you click on a post, at the bottom of the post you can navigate to other posts in this category.

The articles have been written using Markdown. Under the “Notebooks” category there are a series of articles written in R Markdown. It interleaves comments with R code.

So bear with me for the time being.
